WHO WE ARE
From Scelus to Mara — Four Years of Driving Enterprise Growth
Mara Innovations Centre Limited (formerly Scelus Innovations Centre Limited) was incorporated in December 2021 as a business consultancy built on one mission: to build bridges for entrepreneurs through skilling, innovation, and research. We deliver business development services, capacity building, financial inclusion, business model co-creation, strategy development, and governance support to MSMEs, agribusinesses, and growth-oriented entrepreneurs across Uganda and East Africa. Alongside our advisory work, we produce and market Mara Organics, our line of raw, unrefined Shea butter cosmetics.
Core values & principles
Our business philosophy
We believe development is a collaborative effort. Every engagement draws on practical business tools, tailored advisory, coaching, and performance tracking, designed to deliver measurable outcomes aligned with each client’s specific objectives. We make good use of the resources within our reach, working alongside development partners, government bodies, and private sector actors to extend impact further than we could alone.
1.
Client-centered
Every intervention is tailored to the client’s specific stage, sector, and objectives. Our team designs solutions custom built for each entrepreneur, farmer group, or organization we work with.
2.
Practical, hands-on delivery
We don’t just advise from a distance. Our support includes hands-on coaching, mentorship, and implementation follow through , from initial diagnostics all the way to monitoring results on the ground.
3.
Measurable, accountable outcomes
Every engagement is tied to clear KPIs linked to growth, profitability, and investment readiness, with structured reporting so clients and partners can see real progress.

Results-driven focus
Every engagement is tied to measurable KPIs linked to growth, profitability, and investment readiness, with structured monitoring and reporting built in, not added as an afterthought.
Proven track record with credible partners
We’ve delivered projects with UNDP, ILO, SNV, and CivFund, including a UNDP funded project so successful it drew a site visit from UN and EU officials.

Our team includes an ILO-certified SIYB Master Trainer and a Bank of Uganda-trained Financial Literacy Trainer, credentials that back up the training and coaching we deliver.
Full-cycle support
From diagnostic assessment through implementation, monitoring, and reporting, we stay engaged through delivery, not just the strategy phase. Several of our client relationships (Yabi Ventures, Songomara, RECSEN) are multi-year, ongoing partnerships.
Regional reach, local grounding
Deep experience across Uganda and the wider East Africa region, with particular strength in Northern Uganda and the Lango sub-region, combined with sector range spanning agribusiness, clean energy, and inclusive enterprise development.
